God damn it! Almost!

Woot.com had its highly popular Bag O’ Crap for sale during todays woot off. After about a minute in to the sale, the servers began to die a slow and horrible death. No sales were going through, constant bitching ensued in their forums. Twenty minutes later, the Bag O’ Crap was taken off the page and the next item was cycled in to the sale.

I was really irritated that the outcome of who would get an order in was really left up to luck. If the servers were able to handle such traffic, the person to get there first, would be the one to get the amazing Bag O’ Crap. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case. It was pure luck if you were able to have you order go through.

I condemn woot.com for ever starting the Bag O’ Crap sale without upgraded servers. With all the money that we woot suckers have given them over the past months or years, id would have expected them to have fast servers, and using linux to run their webservers… not windows. (I know theyre running windows because of their aspx pages… bastards)

So woot, with all your wonderful intellect and awfully cheap crap that you manage to sell, please buy yourself some nice servers?
