So You Want To Understand MP3 Compression?

I am sure that there are other people out there like myself that like to dig into the internals of what “makes things tick”. Have you ever taken the time to try to figure out MP3 compression? I mean it is something that, dare I say, all of us have at least heard of and probably use quite frequently in our daily lives. Several times I have looked through manuals and specifications only to be left completely confused. On the other hand, I know that it makes music files smaller and I know that I use them in my iPod.
