How could anyone forget, they weren’t all that long ago. Remember the craze about a year or two ago? You couldn’t have a conversation with anyone without someone mentioning Phil Helmuth, Phil Ivey or what happened at the last WPT Event.

It seemed like everyone in the USA was obsessed with Texas Hold ‘em. Even Doyle Brunson had become a household name.

Remember all those ads on tv for UltimateBet.com and PokerStars.com? What happened to all of that?

Well the government in the US passed a law effectively killing the whole industry inside the US. Now the European Union is fighting through the WTO.

The European Union will ask the United States to pay $100 billion in trade concessions due to last year’s passing of the UIGEA in the US that the WTO ruled as a violation of global trade rules.

Is there a chance that we could be getting online poker back here in the states? Could we see a return to sitting around the TV and watching the World Series of Poker or the WPT Finals and then rushing off to find a tournament online?

I doubt it, but we can all dream right?
