What is the word to describe something amazing but in a bad sense, like infamous is for famous. This black gem was found in Goodwill for sale. The magazine published in the 60’s, shows just how racism/bigotry was tolerated.

Now, is it all satire and just ‘jokes’? Well, you be the judge.

5Wow, you guys above me are a bunch of idiots. Comics are supposed to be funny, or give you a ha! or aha! feeling. These are tasteless and pretty stupid. Even if it is satire, its terrible.

9Great post, as sad as it sounds I believe such ‘values’ still exist albeit directed at Pakistani, Hindu, Muslim or Jew to name but a few. Its nothing I haven’t heard in the pub, a footy match or seen on Sauchiehall St. on a Friday night! Satire
By they way, what’s happening to the UK?

10Amazing. How could anyone ever file this under the title of “racist?” These cartoons are a direct reflection of how some Americans felt, acted, and sadly still feel and act when dealing with individuals that aren’t the same color. By illustrating and commenting harshly on our behavior in a cartoonish way, one is reminded of just how stupid it is to create schema based on skin. The above illustrations are by no means racist, but are instead the attempts at one non-racist to point out just how fucking stupid racism is.

14My first time here, and I’ve just subscribed the RSS. Anyway, although this post is from 30 months ago, the issue mentioned is still worthy of consideration.
I’m from Malaysia, and in the US would be termed as `coloured’ since `Asian’ is too wide. After studying the pictures here, I’m of the same opinion as Erika (July 12, 2007) - these are satire and are certainly aren’t racist. Even without reading the Wikipedia link about the creator, in my opinion, the pictures here actually help to promote blacks.
So, hopefully people like “trevon” - if he’s really black - will see this from a neutral angle and think again what impression he gets by doing so. They are about “racial attitudes and mentalities”, but they certainly aren’t `racist’.
