What is a PC Load Letter error? What does that mean?
PC LOAD LETTER is an error message that appears on old HP printers and the error is always capitalized. The letters PC stand for ‘paper cassette’, NOT personal computer.
This might be the reason why the error is so confusing for some. The printer is simply asking for it to be refilled with paper. Nothing more.
Why HP didn’t just put the error message to display something like ‘Refill paper tray’ eludes me. Other similar (and even more confusing) errors are PC LOAD LEGAL. It’s basically the same thing but the printer requires legal size paper.
This error has become a geeks ‘inside’ joke in many forums and message boards across the net. It became popular after Mike Bolton constantly fought the printer at work. This is what ultimately led to the printers demise.

1Because it would say “PC LOAD A4″ for A4 paper. and LETTER for Letter sized paper. The rest of the world uses metric A4 paper.

2I’ve always noticed that software manufactures always express errors the dumbest way possible. Instead of something simple, they throw something that more than likely will be very cryptic to the end user. And lets get real, most end users for anything that has an ‘on’ button are pretty stupid.

5It’s because programmers are douchebags. They were born without common sense. That’s why they are kept in dark dungeons away from real people. Also they smell.
