The big boss at NBCU knows that the war on piracy is a disaster, but his solution isn’t to try a new tactic. Rather, Jeff Zucker wants to see all ISPs and the government put piracy at the top of their agendas. This includes ISP’s adding filters and helping police activity on the internet. Zucker is clamoring for a government run anti-piracy regime. This is just what need, more government policing our daily lives.
This seems ridiculous to me. What he is really calling for is more “spying” on US citizens. The amount of piracy in the US is miniscule compared to what goes on overseas. What ever happened to corporate innovation? These companies that helped create and sell all of this technology to the public and made a killing doing it are now having their own technology used against them and they are at a loss. So what do they do? They go after regular Americans and sue them for hundred of thousands of dollars, for distributing some mp3’s??
Maybe these corporate giants should worry less about how the technology they created is being used by average people to share low quality recordings of their music they should innovate something to prevent it?
