Vint Cerf, who helped to build the internet while working as a researcher in the US, said that television was approaching its “iPod moment”. “85 per cent of all video we watch is pre-recorded, so you can set your system to download it all the time,”

Oh, wow thats news to me. I’ve been downloading and streaming episodes that I miss on TV for a long time now. For the past two years I’ve been watching episodes of my favorite TV Shows online during my lunch break at work. How is any of this ‘new’?

No, the TV isnt dying, and it never will. TV will always have place in everyone’s home where they can sit down, watch a movie, a TV show or the news together. Downloading content has been a part of the Internet for quite a while now. Sure, the amount of downloaded content may increase, but the usefulness of the television will never go away. Unless you want 5 people hunched over your chair at your computer for an hour and a half watching the latest flick.

The microwave did not replace the oven. The Segway did not replace our legs, and the Internet will not replace the TV.
