I get so sick of seeing large companies lobby Washington in order to get laws passed that only help them make more money more easily. What ever happened to the good old days when companies knew that innovation was the key to increasing their profits and creating products that actually bettered the lives of people?

Well every two years BP and the Department of Energy sponsor the BP Solar Decathlon, which gives me faith that some people still believe innovation is the best solution to corporate profits and solving our societal problems while also giving us, the consumers a great product!

The BP Solar Decathlon starts again in just 2 days! What is it? Well is competition where major US Universities design, build and operate livable and energy efficient homes.  Besides being some of the most energy efficient homes we have ever seen they are also completely solar-powered.

The Solar Decathlon has an official blog that is a great resource if you would like to see these amazing homes. They provide regular updates to keep you informed of latest developments as well as introduce you to the teams that will be competing.

The BP Solar Decathlon starts in just 2 days so make sure you visit and bookmark the site. The competition will run from October 11, 2007 - October 19, 2007 and the blog will constantly updated by an on-site reporter!  What a great competition; keep your eye on it and see what  the teams build!
