I think the author meant to say "Right-click the clock and select Task Manager". But your right that there are better tools available since WinXP.

Process Explorer and Process Monitor are worth having. :)

What are you talking about with "right click on the clock"? Is this a vista feature? In XP there is no such option. If you wish to look at processes, you can hit alt-cntrl-del and select "task manager". If you wish to look at the services that are running, you can go to a command prompt and type "services.mcs" to run the services portion of the Microsoft Management Console. You can used the console to start, stop and control how each available service operates. I

f you want what is a much better way to do anything you want with a service or process, see what is running inside each SVCHOST, and to even graph how these are affecting your system, download the "Process Explorer" from the sysinternals website at Microsoft. If you are trying to tweak your system, I believe this to be a must have utility.
