An article posted at blog.brettkelly.org titled “Gmail is still Not Perfect (Sorry, TechCrunch)” caught my interest. It counters Tech Crunch’s article stating that Gmail is NOT perfect due to the lack of IMAP support. The question of something being perfect for starters, is really subjective. But lets not get in to that right now.
Anyway, the article somehow concludes that IMAP support in Gmail would truly indeed make it perfect. Now, who uses IMAP? Gmail is setup for the ‘Ted Stevens’ of the internet. Sign up, and login. Thats it. No messing with servers, no POP or SMTP settings.
Including IMAP support in Gmail, would be pretty useless in my opinion. What would the usage be? My guess is not all that much. So, ditch the IMAP feature, and continue to expand on features that are targeted towards the not so tech savvy geeks out there.
I really don’t think anyone should really be labeling anything as ‘perfect’ due to people having, you know, different point of views and all. Goddamn people and their separate points of view.
