I can give you a whole list of why you should never use geeksquad, or any major repair shop, but i wont. So just watch the video. Big stores who fix PC’s will always, over diagnose and over charge.

I, on my off time while I’m not drawing up mechanical drawings (my real life job) fix computers for friends and families, and the occasional customer who is referred by said friend or family member.

100% of the time i am honest, and straightforward with my diagnosis of the problem. Never do i try and cheat, or steal from them I because I know how hard and how expensive it is to fix a computer. Believe it or not, I was once ignorant to the whole computer scene.

Just yesterday I had to fix a customers computer who was referred to me by a family member. I had to backup all of their stuff, format, partition, then install windows. After that, it was an awesome 2 hrs installing all of their drivers and software they wanted. After that, it was 2 hours setting up his 4 printers ( he has a business card printing service). Grand total? $75. He was so delighted he slipped me another $25. After he paid me, he said he was scared the whole thing would be over $500.

I don’t do it for the money, I do it because i enjoy the work. Solving the puzzle of what is wrong with it is fun, removing and installing components is fun… to me.

So, next time when your computer breaks, take it to a repair shop, that is family owned. Not some big monster corporation who only does it for the money. Mom ‘n Pop shops will take care of you better than any Best Buy, Circuit City or any other big named brand store.
