My Ebay, Paypal, and verizon accounts were all hacked. 3 days after I noticed missionfish had added itself to my account as a third party. I have spent 10 hours on the phone with ebay and they act like they do not know what I am talking about. My unaswered questions are how did mission fish get added as a third party? What control do they have over my account. I never even heard of missionfish or third partys before the hack. I continue to revoke mission fish autherizations but it keep coming back. How can I trust ebay they have no answers? Can anyone help?

Evidently someone used my account to send out emails.....Here is my conversation with the security guy on Ebay.

I asked him for the ip address and what action will they take against the offender and this is what he said

"10:54:54 AM AgentPreston C.
Security precautions prevent me from discussing our proprietary tools and investigation procedures that led us to this action.

10:54:59 AM AgentPreston C.
I am sorry, we cannot disclose that."

He was telling me that I shouldnt be worried that my address and personal information was accessed as my address is available on the internet anyway from some websites. Unbelieveable!!! I told him that my address might be available, and I am well aware of that but my ebay id related to my address is not available anywhere else but through Ebay.

I said, this is a security hole with Ebay.

This is what he said

"11:04:35 AM AgentPreston C.
This is not a security hoe in the company. I am saying that many private companies sell the contact information of any one world wide.
11:04:52 AM AgentPreston C.
One need not need to take over your eBay account for that."

This is how Ebay' justifies personal information being accessed by third parties...

11:00:56 AM AgentPreston C.
We do keep our site most secured, however sometimes third parties do invade some accounts but this is very rare on eBay.
They do have specific tools for that about which even we are not aware.

Shows how resonsible this company is with personal information.

Some of them are 100% legit:

If you use Arndale counters, then you wil lhave "Arndale" and "Arndale Auto-Attach" (the latter will make sure new listings have an Arndale counter on it) - you would have authorised them when you signed up for their services.

eBay Asynchronous Bulk Relist - used by Turbo Lister.

eBay's third parties are required to use tokens to perform actions having to do with your eBay account, not login information, and you grant them access from within your eBay account. Of course, if someone has phished your login, then they act as if they are you. The third-party companies you are mentioning in your list are Certified Solutions Providers with eBay (see http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?SolutionsDirectory&page=results&subgroup=1). They are legitimate companies, and you have to sign up for their services for them to require the token to access your account. Some of these providers may have tools like galleries and counters that require this access to your account.

Although they might come from phishing sites, I can say that is not the only way. I can guarantee that I've never fallen victim to a phishing site. I've never clicked through on any email to get to eBay, and yet I had one of those 3rd party authorizations on my account as well.

I had a couple; from Googling around, they MIGHT be payment processors used by eBay sellers I've bought from. The third-party authorization prefs panel doesn't say WHAT they are authorized to do; that would be very nice.

I just finished a "Live Chat" session with an eBay rep. and they claimed that the "3rd party authorizations" are usually granted access to your account by "tricking" the end user, i.e. the eBay community, into entering their account information onto a "fake" login screen. According to the rep., the login screen looks almost identical to the standard eBay login. That's all the information that I could get from the guy. Phishing's a bitch!

[...] Today, a user named charbarred submitted the ‘Ebay 3rd Party Access‘ post a contributor made about some services that are given access to your ebay account. It is legitamate info, and even has some users saying they found the article to be true. As of now, it has 31 diggs, but unfortunately it has been buried. It was buried right before it made it to the front page. Why? I dont know, and I suspect many dont know either. There have been about 2 or 3 more articles that have been submitted which have gotten over 30 diggs, but then all of a sudden buried right before they hit the front page. These were all legitimate posts, no spam, no garbage. [...]
