Countless times i’ve seen where someone claims that they can increase a users bandwidth by a few simple XP tweaks. Its not the bandwidth on your memory, but they are actually talking about network bandwidth. “Increase your bandwidth even on shitty ISP’s with a few XP tweaks”.
Well fellow geeks, im here to tell you that that is false. Tweaking XP and increasing bandwidth are terms that should never be said in the same sentence. This is the same as claiming that you can add an extra lane to a nearby highway just buy tweaking your car. Its not possible, it will never happen.
ISP’s have something in place that prevents you from excedding your alloted bandwidth. Your ISP more than likley has several diffrent plans for you to purchase. The more bandwidth, the higher the price. As an example, here are the diffrent plans that SBC Yahoo! DSL offers.

As you can see, what I said rings true here. So dont go forking out money to buy the latest “Bandwidth Booster” software you see at your local Best Buy. The more bandwidth you get, the more your ISP will charge you. There is no magical tweak in XP that will cheat your ISP out of bandwidth, atleast not a legal one. But lets not get in to that.

1The XP tweaks are to optimize your internet speed, i have NEVER seen any that actually say they will increase it.
The tweaks DO work for most PCs and normally alter the registry to speed up web pages etc.
So your not entirely right.

2Good point. Tweaks to optimize the loading and opening of pages are possible. The ‘increasing bandwidth’ claims are not.
