I know have I been on a rant lately about some of the stupid rules, laws, penalties, etc that people are having to live by these days but I really just can’t believe the insanity.
Hopefully this will be the last post that I have to make on such stupidity, but I highly doubt it. I grew up in Las Vegas, back when Las Vegas was actually a desert. My friends and I not only drew on the sidewalk in chalk, and had the local firefighters help us get cats out of trees, but we also loved to play cops and robbers and sometimes even cowboys and indians! Why is this little trip down memory lane important to me?
Well I just came across a story on MSNBC about a second-grader in New Jersey that was suspended from school. That’s not really a big deal, I am sure if I think back hard enough I was even suspended for a thing or two in my schooling career. The thing that shocked me is that this student was suspended for drawing a stick figure! A stick figure shooter a water pistol!
I realize that society is a little uneasy about guns at school after the rash of shootings that we have had, but come-on. This is just non-sense. When are we as a society going to wake up! When are we going to let kids be kids and take responsibility as adults for the unpleasant things that are happening in our world.
What are really accomplishing by punishing these kids when all they see if violence glorified in the media? Oh, right… why would we go after things like video games and movies and even our government when there is sooo much money at stake? Isn’t it just easier to go after innocent children instead of big business to solve our social problems?
