It’s called the TBM, Tunnel Boring Machine. It’s something like the one we see in that movie ‘The Core’ where they use it to go to the center of the earth to restart the earth itself.

Except that his uses old tried and true method of scratching at the rock, but gets it done in such a way that even thinking about doing it any other way just seems silly. Oh and of course, it can’t be used in your journey to the center of the earth.
